Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare certifies Medica Kosova for social service delivery

Since 1999 when most of the population in Kosovo needed recovery from the consequences of war, Medica Kosova developed a wide range of social service delivery for the war traumatized women and girls as a result of experiencing sexual violence and human losses.

Trauma counseling, social education, art therapy, legal support, development of income generating activities, capacity building in organizing the women in associations and their empowerment to de-stigmatize sexual violence  are key parts of social service the organization delivers since then.

Social service delivery played a crucial role in supporting survivors of war-time rape and other vulnerable women to overcome social and traditional barriers affecting their access to gender equality and restore their dignity.

Medica Kosova is therefore pleased to finally achieve eligibility in social service delivery by receiving the license from the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare after a period of evaluation of the organization’s capacity and expertise in this area of protection of vulnerable groups.

It was an incredible work of the evaluation panel assigned by the Ministry to select organizations that can be licensed and authorized to provide social services for the vulnerable groups. In this regard, most of the credit goes to members of the panel coming from civil society organizations – in particular women’s groups – who were familiar with relevance of expertise and commitment of Medica Kosova in social service delivery for vulnerable women in Kosovo.
