Medica Kosova expertise in the area of sexual violence shared in Istanbul workshop

Medica Kosova attended the two-day workshop on Women, Peace and Security in Istanbul, organized by UN Women's Europe and Central Asia Regional Office.

This workshop aimed at exchanging experiences among Government and civil society representatives from Europe and Central Asia on actions taken to implement the Security Council Resolution 1325 and opportunities of ensuring the women's participation and leadership in the face of new regional threats. A reginal launch of the Global Study on implementation of the Resolution 1325, commisioned by the UN Secretary General took place during this event. 

Participants coming from Institutions, donors community and civil society organizations from Europe and Central Asia discussed on current opportunities and challenges for women, peace and security during crisis and disaster responds; security sector reform; countering violent extremism; promoting dialog and mediation; and insuring the countability for conflict related sexual violence. 

Workshop participants were invited  by the Consul General of Sweden Ambassador Jens Odlander to attend a welcome reception at the Swedish Palace in Istanbul.
